This week in What I’m Wearing Wednesday, it’s nude heels! This trend has been taking off for the last year but I’ve been into it for awhile. Until recently it was hard to find any nude heel other than the Christian Louboutins which are obviously waaaaaaay out of my price range. You can bet I’m happy that the shoes are now popping up everywhere!
WIWW: Corals
I figured since I love fashion I would start doing a weekly fashion post. So voila! What I’m Wearing Wednesday, a weekly post about the latest fashion or beauty trend I am obsessing about. This week I talk about the color coral.
The Perfect Prep: San Carlos Tan
Miss California USA 2013 is over and I am working on a post all about my experience there and what a pageant is like behind the scenes. In the meantime I wanted to share another step I took in my journey of preparation.
Tanning is obviously a big part of appearance for many things. I have found myself needing that golden glow for dance and cheer try-outs, photo shoots, and of course Miss California USA. I was very fortunate to find a sponsor in San Carlos Tan and wanted to share my experience there. [Read more...]
The Mint Jeans Trend- Outfit of the Day
To be completely honest, I was not too sure about the mint colored jeans trend that has been going around lately. (I’m sure you’ve noticed the abundance of mint, cream, and other pastels if you’ve been shopping lately.) However, I do like colored jeans so I figured I’d give it a go. Inspired by this collage (on the left) that I found on Pinterest, I devised my own outfit around the mint jeans. I paired the skinny cut with a blousier tee in a putty color, cuffed the bottoms, and added nude heels. For accessories I wanted to keep it neutral but add flavor so I went a bit rock n’ roll. My brother actually bought the silver spike necklace for me and it was the one piece everyone complimented. (Good job brother!) I am sure you will be seeing these pants in some other combinations too! I think the color compliments my tan skin fairly well, but I could also see it looking good with paler skin tones. Would you try the trend and what would you pair with it?
Jeans: Victoria’s Secret Siren in Aqua Glass

Pumps: Brash for Payless (previous season)

Journey to Miss California USA 2013: All About Hair (and 28 Days to Go)
Another big thing for me to think about when it comes to pageant preparation is hair. I am not great at doing my hair, it just takes so much time and I never have practiced it. But, that is changing! I want to be ready on competition day, knowing I have tried and true products and styling tools and can make my hair look amazing within the time we are given. (Yup, we all have to do our own hair.) So, are you looking to get awesome hair on your own? The name of the game is experimentation and finding what works for your texture and consistency. But I can tell you a few things that helped me get started.
Journey to Miss California USA 2013: Intro to Fitness (and 32 Days to Go)
In my first blog about my journey to the Miss California USA stage, I mentioned fitness being the most important part of my pageant preparation. Indeed, fitness is importance for walking across the stage in a bikini while oozing with confidence. It is also useful for my life as an actress, model, and dancer. However, fitness is more importantly of utmost important for living a full and happy life. The benefits of a healthy lifestyle composed of a balanced diet and exercise include ability to manage stress, raise mood, and confidence that carries into your relationships and goals.
Fitness is a lifestyle, you have to create a balance that fits in with your life and is easy enough to maintain. The hardest part of getting fit seems to be getting started, so I have some easy tips for you to get your feet wet.
Journey to Miss California USA 2013: 39 Days to Go
I had an amazing weekend at the Miss California USA 2013 orientation! It was good to meet so many nice competitors, sponsors, and people involved in the pageant’s production. It was really great to get a further understanding of what to expect pageant week and where I am at and what I still need to work on personally. After all the great information I got I am even more confident in my ability to rock the stage this January!
Journey to Miss California USA 2013: 42 Days to Go
So I’m in Los Angeles today and through the weekend for the Miss California orientation. I flew in today around noon, sat on the taxi way for 40 minutes because the terminal wasn’t clear, and then learned that booking your car through Orbitz is a questionable idea; thus cutting my 3 hours allotted to eating, getting my nails done, and driving to Santa Monica to nothing. Word to the wise: rental car companies are tricksy little things. However, I managed to get to Santa Monica on time for my session with Sashes and Crowns aka the lovely Tara and Cristina, former Miss Alabama and Massachusetts respectively.
Journey to Miss California USA 2013: 44 Days to Go
As you may or not already know, I am competing in the Miss California USA 2013 pageant. Although I personally have been preparing myself for the pageant since very early in 2012 there is still a LOT to do in preparation. Since I am new to pageants a lot of my time has been spent researching how to approach it and have a good shot of doing well. This has been incredibly difficult, it does not seem like a lot of pageant participants before me have thoroughly chronicled their journey to the stage through blogs or websites. I am going to attempt to fill that gap, not only for myself to gain feedback on progress, but to help other ladies who may be curious in participating in pageants.
